This course includes a basic introduction to the theory and principles of ultrasound. It contains study materials related to the propagation, reflection, and attenuation of sound as well as the responses from discontinuities. The student will learn to understand the equipment used in this discipline and learn to calibrate instruments to identify and locate reflectors in various test specimens. UT is also used for precise thickness measurements and the basic procedure for this is covered. This class covers the classroom training as required by NAS 410, SNT-TC-1A and CP-189.
