Here is what happened: Peter, a wrestler, experienced a tragic accident during a sports drill at his high school on November 20,2020. His knee was hyper-extended and dislocated. The coaches immediately called an ambulance and accompanied him to the hospital. X-rays showed a fractured tibia and likely ligament damage. Unfortunately, the severity of the injury was not fully diagnosed for five days. Peter was was so brave as he endured agonizing pain that intensified each day. On the following Wednesday, a CT scan revealed that all the main ligaments were torn and an artery had been damaged in the original accident. Emergency surgery was done to repair the artery. But the long-term damage was done. Because of the lack of blood flow in the earlier days, an entire muscle group had to be removed. Other nerves and muscles were affected. Now Peter is on a very long road: to completely reconstruct the knee and determine his long-term mobility: either possibly with a prosthetic, or otherwise. For now, we just don’t know. Time will tell. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement as Peter learns how to grow strong in ways he never dreamed he could or would.
